Negotiations between the property owner and the Town’s Attorney regarding an easement have been ongoing for nearly five years, with the establishment of the District delayed past the 2020 tax roll. An algae bloom was reported on August 12, confirmed by the DEC as a Harmful Algae Bloom, likely caused by rain runoff carrying lawn fertilizer and possible septic system failure. The board, with the assistance of Amy Apprill from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, will continue researching preventive measures.
