There’s still time to sign up for the Friendly Triathlon!

Saturday August 9 at 9AM

The annual Friends Lake Friendly Mini-Triathlon will soon be here. It’s a fun event and as competitive as you want it to be. Come and do all or part of the race (you can absolutely do just the swim, just the bike, or just the run, and the run can most certainly be a walk!). You could also put together a relay team! Cheerers are also much needed and appreciated! However you participate, we hope you’ll join in the post-race potluck brunch. There will be a raffle where some lucky participants will win Friends Lake gear from The Hub!

All who wish to participate or volunteer should sign up using the link below so that we can plan ahead and have a sense of numbers. If the form causes any difficulty, you can email Beth at beth.stalker@friendslakeny.org to let us know what you would like to do and/or bring.

Sign up here to volunteer or participate!

Triathlon Details

The triathlon will start at the McCarthy House (Shantymac) at 677 Atateka Drive, and will be held rain or shine. In the event of thunder or lightning, the event will be canceled.

PARKING: Cars may be parked at the McCarthy residence. Before parking, be sure to drop your bikes at the Whitman residence at 625 Atateka Drive. Alternatively, you can park at the McCarthys’ and walk your bike back to the Whitman house if you have sufficient time.

POTLUCK: After parking your car, drop off your food or beverage item for the post-race potluck brunch at the McCarthy house. If you are unable to bring anything, please consider a small financial contribution to help offset the cost of the brunch.

The race is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM, so please be completely ready to go by 8:45 AM for an on-time start and sign in. Be sure to sign in at the McCarthy house before the race and indicate the parts of the race in which you will participate.

  1. Swim: The first leg is a swim of approximately an eighth of a mile (250 yds) from the McCarthy beach to the Whitman dock. Spotters will be in the water on kayaks to assist if needed.
  2. Bike: At the Whitmans’ house, you will transition to your bike and ride to the Friends Lake Inn and then back to the McCarthy residence. Bike helmets are mandatory! The biking distance is about 4.2 miles. Upon completion of the bike ride, leave your bikes at the McCarthy house
  3. Run/Walk: Finish the event with a short out-and-back run/walk of 1.5 miles, ending at the McCarthy home.

We hope you are as excited as we are! See you there!
