FLPOA Friendly Triathlon
This year’s FLPOA Friendly Triathlon on August 9th was a grand success, and brought out our highest number of participants yet! Competitors ranged in age from 5 to upwards of 75, and it was wonderful to see people connecting with old friends and building new connections at the post-race brunch. The inimitable Beverly McCarthy was an exceptional host, and we are thankful to the planning committee, volunteers, and participants who made the day possible! Bravo to everyone involved!
2nd Annual FLPOA “Nine, Wine & Dine” Golf Tournament
Sunday, August 17th marked the 2nd annual FLPOA “Nine, Wine & Dine” Golf Tournament, held again at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg. Promptly at 3pm, 60 golfers set out to enjoy a 9-hole, 4-person team scramble, all the while hoping the pending bad weather would hold off until everyone met back in the clubhouse for drinks and a BBQ dinner.
Well, it didn’t exactly go as planned! With only a few holes left to play, the skies opened up and the rain came down-in buckets!!! Some teams came in; other teams stayed out, determined to finish their round and turn in a complete score card. Everyone was soaked and cold-James Sr from Cronin’s met most at the front door with a smile and towels to dry off and get warm. While the weather may have dampened the ability to play golf, it did not dampen anyone’s spirits! There were plenty of smiles, laughter, stories and wet score cards!
Cronins got right to work getting the BBQ dinner set up for the 60 golfers, plus 20 additional diners-all of whom were thrilled they weren’t golfing that day! Following dinner, prizes were awarded. Congratulations to “Team Griebe”, consistin of Bob Griebe, Declan Odea, Joe Odea and Jack Odea. They finished with a score of 31 and each received a $25 gift chip donated by Cronin’s Golf Resort.

- Longest Drive Women: Sue Halliday ($25 Gift Card-Main St Ice Cream Parlor)
- Closest to Center Line Men: Ray Watroba ($25 Gift Card-The Bullhouse)
- Closest to Center Line Women: Judi Mooney ($25 Gift Card-The Bullhouse)
- Closest to Pin: Bob Burnett ($25 Gift Card-Stewart’s Shops)
All golfers and diners were entered to win raffle prizes provided by FLPOA or generously donated by local businesses. Congratulations to the following raffle winners:

Date for the 3rd annual “Nine, Wine & Dine” will be announced later this year. Registration will open at the 9am coffee hour prior to the annual meeting next July.
